Veterinary Emergencies
Our vets understand that it can be difficult to determine whether your animal's health issue requires a visit to an emergency pet hospital. A trip to the emergency vet clinic can be stressful and expensive but there are times when your dog and cat will require urgent care. The following situations are examples of animal emergencies that require an immediate trip to the emergency pet clinic nearest you:
- Severe bleeding or bleeding that doesn't stop
- Clear signs of pain or extreme anxiety
- Difficulty breathing, choking or continuous coughing/gagging
- Fractured or broken bones or severe lameness
- Seizures and/or staggering
- Blood from nose, mouth, rectum, or in urine
- Inability to urinate or pass feces, or pain associated with urinating or passing feces
- Repeated vomiting or diarrhea; 2+ episodes in 24-hours
- Eye injuries
- Your pet has ingested something poisonous (such as antifreeze, xylitol, chocolate, rodent poison, etc.)
- Heat stress or heatstroke
- Pet has stopped drinking for 24 hours or more
- Unconsciousness
